BreezeMarine has taken part in the
second Marine Industry Regatta.
The event was organised by Boating Business, Yachting Monthly
and Practical Boat Owner and took place from Port Solent near
Portsmouth. Light winds and sunshine dominated the day and instead
of the four races which were originally planned, only two were
held, both with shortened courses.
BreezeMarine, which charted a boat together with two of our clients,
Sailsport and Pedros Yacht Refinishing, finished the regatta
in a respectable eighth place out of 30 boats.
The first race looked set to be a disaster initially with BreezeMarine
rounding the windward mark in 27th place, but on the next run,
we decided to head inshore finding a light wind amongst the holes
and also tide in our favour. With the time limit running out,
the course was shortened and BreezeMarine finished in fourth
place, having overtaken all the boats which had headed into the
middle of the course.
The second race started in a slightly increased wind which soon
dropped away. With shorter legs set by the race officer, BreezeMarine
found themselves in the middle of the pack almost from the start.
While lots of other competitors found themselves a bit too close
to each other at the leeward mark, BreezeMarine stayed out of
trouble and finished in 15th place.
